It is my belief Frank beamer & the Hookies have a clear memory of the embarrassing beating they took in the sugar bowl for the National championship just 2 years ago. Both of these teams have had major losses from last years squads, with Florida State losing key offensive weapons Weinke, Minnis, & Minor.Tech loses Vick & in the first game loses team captain tail back Suggs. Tech considering had a good season, Jones (1000 yards) & burnell (700 yards) filled in nicely. The big story with Tech is same old story awesome Defense, this team only allowed 13 points per game & had 100 tackles for losses with almost 40 sacks. Florida State has had lots of troubles with offensive line, that yielded 30 sacks. Tech aggressive defense, Florida State inability to protect rookie quarterback Rix will be the key to this game. eminoles are extremely weak on defending the run, at the same time Virginia Tech runs for 200 + yards per game. Once Tech gets the lead & can really focus on rushing the quarterback, Rix & the Seminoles are finished. Granted Tech struggled & lost 2 games they should have won (Syracuse & Pittsburgh) but if you sought them against Miami in season finale, you should recognize the level team has improved.
