Today the National Sports Advisors are picking the San Francisco Giants to defeat the Philadelphia Phillies in Philadelphia, PA.

Russ Ortiz (7-7, 4.19 ERA) gets the start tonight for the San Francisco Giants. The right-hander was hit hard Friday by the Los Angeles Dodgers, who tagged him for eight runs and seven hits with four walks in two innings in an 11-6 win. Despite splitting two decisions, Ortiz has gotten progressively worse with each start since the All-Star break, allowing 17 runs and 29 hits in 23 innings over four starts. He did not receive a decision against the Phillies on May 1 despite holding them to one run and five hits in 6 2-3 innings. Ortiz is 2-2 in eight career starts against Philadelphia.

Randy Wolf (6-7, 3.95 ERA) gets tonight's starting assignment for the Philadelphia Phillies. The left-hander battled to a win at Atlanta on Friday, allowing two runs and four hits while walking four over 6 1-3 innings of Philadelphia's 3-2 win. Wolf, who has allowed one home run in his last four starts spanning 28 1-3 innings, has yet to win consecutive starts. He won his only start against the Giants last season and is 2-1 with a 4.74 ERA in four lifetime starts against them.

So why the GIANTS? Well, despite Ortiz's recent struggles, we like the Giants tonight because we still feel Ortiz is better than Wolf and the Giants are clearly a better team than the Phillies. Wolf has not won consecutive starts all season long and the Phillies are under .500 at home with a 26-27 home record. The Giants welcomed Barry Bonds back to their lineup last night and he returned with a bang, as he went 3-for-4 with a solo homerun. We'll take Ortiz and the Giants at +100 tonight, as we feel the Giants will be more motivated with them currently being in the NL West and Wild Card pennant chases.
