A Reputation of Results

Football fans love to watch the exploits of offensives that possess the propensity to light up a scoreboard.

There are few things more exciting than teams airing the football out and piling up the especially to football bettors.

And so far on the year, the NCAA’s high-powered offensive teams have covered the over in all but one game.

Michigan State, Tulsa, Georgia State, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Western Kentucky, and Florida are all over 80 percent on the season when it comes to covering the over on the total.

These teams have either covered because of their outstanding offense like Michigan State 45.5 PPG, or Western Kentucky’s 45.6 PPG, Ohio State 44.3 PPG, Georgia 43.4 PPG, or Oklahoma 38.7 PPG. Meanwhile the others are covering the total due to an anemic defense like Tulsa allowing 40.7 points or Georgia State’s 43.6 PPG. These teams have found a way to clear way over the total and bettors should be keeping a track of these teams.

However, when looking at a total, bettors must take into account both sides of the ball, and not just the offense.

Smart handicappers also pay attention to defenses that allow are doing well, as that is just as effective as a high scoring offense in terms of juicing or not juicing game totals.

With that, there are teams that have only covered the over in one game this season and just two teams that haven’t covered the over in any of their games. Then there are Duke, Southern Alabama, Navy, Houston, Kansas, Stanford, UConn, Mississippi, and Wake Forest, all of which have only covered the over in one game, leaving over bettors screaming for more points. These teams not only have an offense that is not up tempo, but the defensive side of the ball is solid.

Furthermore, teams like Stanford and Mississippi have made built their success this season around solid defenses, as well as San Diego State and Northwestern which are two teams that are yet to cover a single game on the over. That’s because they both lay a more physical type of football and do not air it out quite as often as their high scoring counterparts do.

There is a huge big contrast in not only style of play, but how the betting trends have been involved when these teams have played.

That’s why bettors should identify games in which any of the above mentioned teams are playing and see they can find an edge in the total, or pick the side that has been cashing and ride the money train.
